View & Read

“Hagar” by Edmonia Lewis. One of the upcoming artists that Alveary students will study in 2022-23, Edmonia Lewis was a brilliant 19th century sculptor. This famous carved marble sculpture of Hagar from the Bible by her is 52 58 x 15 14 x 17 18 in. (133.6 x 38.8 x 43.4 cm.) and is currently housed in the Smithsonian museum. As a half native-American and half African-American sculptor, her work during the time she lived is even more extraordinary. Look closely at the sculpture (here are views from some different angles). What strikes you most? Perhaps try describing it to a friend this week. Consider reading the story of Hagar that inspired the work.

Listen

Perhaps winter still surrounds you, or perhaps you’re seeing the beginning of spring’s blue skies. Either way, soak in this cheerful jazz standard made especially famous by Ella Fitzgerald and her unparalleled scat singing.

Laugh

Sometimes words are hard–books are hard to understand, a student might struggle learning to read, ideas are hard to transform into intelligible letters, words, and sentences. So it’s good to remember that words can also be funny and fun. Puzzling over riddles yourself or sharing them with others is one way to enjoy the lighthearted sides of words–here are some to enjoy.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
